A cup full of Thankful

Thursday, November 26, 2009 Posted In , , , , Edit This 3 Comments »

I want to wish my blog readers (both of you!) a very Happy Thanksgiving.

As we all know, today is a day to reflect on the things we are thankful for, so I suppose I'll make this post all about me and give that a go...

I am thankful that my scale has gone up. Though I really would like to shed ten pounds or maybe twenty, I'm grateful that even after DH being laid off for ten very long months, we still have enough food on our plates that I actually could gain weight. Even if that makes me shudder a little. I'm thankful.

I am thankful for the mess my house is in. The mess consists of toys being scattered from one end of it to the other. Even after I've picked up the house 1,264 times since Monday. The glorious mess is made by my darling son and I am thankful he is in my world to make his messes.

I am thankful for the glasses on the counter that should have been put in the dishwasher, but instead they are sitting perched right next to the dishwasher, placed there by my husband. I am thankful for that because my husband is home to make his own brand of mess, instead of a thousand miles away as he was a month ago. I am thankful he is home.

I am thankful for the loss of one bedroom because said husband has converted it into his home office. I am thankful he has the need for an office and work to perform within those walls of the former bedroom.

I am thankful for the chaos I will enter into at 4pm this evening as I walk through the front door of my parents' house. With fifteen friends and family gathered in one too-small-for-us-all dining room, the noise is loud, the space is cramped, but I am thankful for each and every one of those people that I call family and friends.

Happy Thanksgiving!

My Emancipation Proclamation aka Save the Tatas

Wednesday, November 04, 2009 Posted In , , , , , Edit This 4 Comments »

Last week I was nagged, poked, prodded, and cajoled into snapping a picture of my tatas for Twitter's Boobie Wednesday or whatever the hell they call it. The purpose is, of course, to promote breast cancer awareness. Since i hate the color pink, snapping the pic was a helluva lot easier to swallow then wearing their pink swag.

Today my tatas were featured on the the Boob Emancipation Project!

Check me out:

I've been Emancipated. Okay, well my boobs have been at least.

Open Letter to my Poor Widdle Lonely Blog

Dear Blog,

I promise, I have not forgotten or forsaken you. Life has been crazed but I hope to return to you very soon. If the whole pain-in-the-ass writer's block goes away. And the flu. And the insanity.

Pending the disappearance of all that, I'll be back very soon.

Love,

I have a personality! Hot damn

Your main type is which ever behavior you utilize most and/or prefer - in my case Type 5. Your variant reflects your scoring profile on all nine types: so = social variant (compliant, friendly), sx = sexual variant (assertive, intense), sp = self preservation variant (withdrawn, security seeking).

Here's how to play. Post that pretty little ditty from up there on your BLOG and let us know the 13 things that YOU love!

1. I love...
The way the wutz says "Good morning!" even when he is waking up from an afternoon nap.

2. I love...
That DH loves me so much he cannot and will not ever say no to me.

3. I love...
My siamese cat, LoLo.
Especially the way she snuggles up against me every time I'm on the computer.

4. I love...
All of my fellow bloggers.
Those that read my blog and those that blog on those blogs that I am hopelessly addicted to!

5. I love...
Big fat eggrolls.
I have two waiting in the fridge for me right now. (Is it suppertime yet??)

6. I love....
My blog.
This is the only place that is all about me, for me, by me!

7. I love...
Chocolate.
'Nuff said.

8. I love...
Listening to it rain.
Like it is right now.

9. I love...
All of my horses.
Even if they are eating me out of house and home.

10. I love...
That the wutz just jumped in my arms and grabbed my neck and said, "I'll keep you safe, Mommy."
Because it is storming so badly.

11. I love...
All the wonderful people I've been fortunate enough to connect with online over the years.

12. I love...
My family.
Even if they drive me nuts at times.

13. I love...
That I've been successful in keeping up with the Project 365 Blog.
I cannot believe that I, a procrastinator, has been able to keep this up every day!

It Bag!

Friday, February 20, 2009 Posted In Edit This 4 Comments »

I was Bag Tagged by Lisa, the ever-so-cool One-Hip-Mom.

The RULES are as follows:

A. Post a picture of whatever bag you are using today - not last weekend when you and your hubby went out to that fabulous restaurant. No cheating!!! AND it's contents!! EVERYTHING! Yes, even THAT!

B. Tell us how much it cost. This is a no-judgment zone -- there will be no ridiculing or eye rolling here. And, if there is a story to go along with how you obtained it, I'd love to hear it.

C. Now tag some fellow bloggers and link back to this post so people know why you are posting pictures of your bag.

A. It isn't a bag, but this is what I use to carry everything around in. I know some of you are dying right about now upon seeing proof of my minimalism, but I like to keep it simple. It fits perfectly into my back pocket. The ONLY time I carry a bag is when I'm smuggling candy into the movie theater. Yes, I am that cheap.

Here are the contents:

1. A stack of credit cards.
2. Debit Card
3. HSA Card
4. Now-defunct insurance card
5. Library Card
6. Gas receipt
7. Three dollars
8. Drivers License
9. Already-spent rebate card

B. My non-bag cost me a whopping $10. I bought it at a funky local store called Fireballs. It is an eclectic little store on main street that gives away the candy fireballs with each purchase. Yum!

C. I'm tagging every female that reads this blog that has yet to do this MeMe!

The Letter H

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The awesome One-Hip-Mom, Lisa had this challenge over at her place and I would love to say I decided to try it, but the truth is, I wasn't given a choice!

If you want to join in, leave a comment and I'll send you a letter on your blog or in your email. Your job is then to come up with 10 thing about yourself that begin with the letter I give you. Fun!

10 Things About Me, H style:

1. Horses: I have 10 of these. Three miniature horses (Boss, Uucy, Primo), and seven big horses (Howie, Puddles, Meli, Crybaby, Ment, Lil E, and Ego).

2. Husband: Even though he's currently unemployed, I still lurve him. He's even been helping around the house. And he adores the wutz and is the best Daddy ever. What's not to love?

3. House: It looks like a tornado hit it, but I love it.

4. Homeless: That's what we'll be if DH doesn't get a job soon. Heh.

5. Hamburger: Today's lunch. It had cheese on it, but it is still a hamburger! It was goood too.

6. Hands: Mine are so dry this winter. I'm not sure why. It sucks.

7. Headaches: I get too many of them. Migraines, too. I wish I didn't because they are miserable.

8. Health insurance: We currently have none. Because of DH being laid off. (I'm sure I haven't mentioned that, have I? LOL.)

9. Healthy: After having a skin biopsy, a Pap, and blood test, the Doctor said I'm healthy and I'll live till I die.

10. Heart: Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and I heart Vday candy!

Five Questions

Friday, January 02, 2009 Posted In Edit This 3 Comments »

Lisa, the very awesome One-Hip-Mom, e-mailed me 5 questions that I will answer.

Here they are:

How did the Wutz get his nickname?
My Dad is from Pennsylvania and much of my family is Penn/Dutch and for them wutz means a little pig. So my Dad is the one that dubbed Colter "the wutz" because he was such a chubby baby.

How old were you when you got married? Do you feel it was too young?
I was three weeks from my 21st birthday when I got married. I was probably too young, but I do not regret it. It has been wonderful.

If you could meet one Twilight star, who would it be and why?
Of the Twilight Saga characters, it'd be Edward, hands down! Dazzle me, dammit! Of the movie stars, Kellen Lutz (Emmett) because he is so freaking hot. Obviously.

Are you working on number two yet?
Not yet, but we are in the stage where we are beginning to discuss it. There are days when I'd love to have another, and then there are days when I think it would be an insane venture.

Does Colter’s name have anything to do with your love of horses?
Yes. DH picked it out. He liked it and though I liked a another name, we decided to go with his choice. Mainly because I have a girl name picked out and if we ever have a girl he is simply not going to get a say in the matter!

Want to be part of it? Follow these instructions:
1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by emailing you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

BookWorm Meme

I was tagged to do this Meme by Lisa, the cool One-Hip-Mom.

Here's what you do...

Grab the book nearest to you, find page 56. Go to the fifth line. Type it, and the few following. Of course, tell us the name and author of the book. Let us know if it's a good read, because we all need good reads!!

Here's mine:

"A fitting attendant for Mara. Noreis!" Raising her voice, she beckoned to a tailor. No adept, he hastened to obey. "Will you see to it? Something elegant, not this seasons's forsaken nonsense." "Of course." He bowed his head. Genuis rules in Eglantine House. If Favrielle was unfit to serve Naamah, she clearly reigned over the fitting room.

And that is from Kushiel's Chosen, the second in the Kushiel's Legacy series by Jacqueline Carey. This series is one of my all time favorites. It is an addicting read about love, heroism, and beautifully fantasy. I'm not normally a scifi or fantasy reader, but these novels are amazing. I've recommended them before, but I do so again!

Tagging my fellow readers:

7 Interesting Things about Me!

Thursday, October 09, 2008 Posted In Edit This 1 Comment »

Umm... Thanks for the tag Lisa.

One
I do the majority of my reading in the shower. I used to even study for tests in the shower. And no, I never get the pages wet. It's an art.

Two
I am Sensory Defensive, but I am known as a self-treater. Which basically no one realizes I have issues aside from the fact that I'm quirky and a bit of a picky eater.

Three
I have absolutely zero patience. My motto is: I have no time for patience.

Four
I learned to ride horses by working on a small ranch that trained wild Mustangs. I started training them myself when I was in junior high.

Five
I hooked up with my now-DH while out 'possum kicking with friends on a very cold November night. Very interesting story. Maybe I'll tell it sometime.

Six
I am a clutterbug. I just can never seem to get organized. With anything. I try and try but it seems like the moment I turn my back, chaos once more reigns supreme around me. I hate it.

Seven
I hate sharing a lot about myself without being asked specific questions. So this tag has been hard for me!

Alright, I survived that! I'm not going to tag five people, but instead here are the lovely ladies that are tagged...

Steph
Gwen
Kelli
Laurie
