Ladybug Love

I am fortunate enough to be awarded, by Michelle and Heather, the Ladybug Award for Most entertaining blog! Unfortunately, these blog awards always seem to have strings attached. So if you are awarded this honor, here is what you have to do!

1. Put the award up on your blog - check!

2. Add a link to the person who awarded it to you - check!

3. Award at least seven other blogs - ummm... I'm going to be a renegade here (as usual) so if you are reading this and you have a blog, then consider yourself nominated!

4. Add links to these blogs on your blog - see #3

5. Leave a message for your award receipients on their blog! - see #3 again

A little lunch gripe

Friday, February 27, 2009 Posted In , Edit This 4 Comments »

1. Why is it that the time it takes to get my food at lunch is in direct correlation to how late I am running?

2. A cheeseburger order that calls for only ketchup does not mean extra ketchup. Really. It doesn't.

3. If said cheeseburger order is not done so with such a request, is it really necessary to slop on six pounds of mayonnaise? Not only is it terrible for you, that much of anything is just gross.

4. Tomatoes should be red. Red, people. Not green (unless fried!) and definitely not white. Red.

5. Why is it called Fast Food? It definitely isn't fast and I'm quite certain it isn't really food, either. I mean, the only thing that can survive longer than a McDonald's cheeseburger is probably a cockroach. And even a roach wouldn't eat the Happy Meal to survive.

Got Juice?

A couple of days ago after the wutz woke up from his nap, he meandered through the house and made a path toward his sippy cup that he'd had earlier that morning. He grabbed it up in his small hand and took a big sip, then he pulled it away from his mouth and held the cup up in protest. "Sippy cup bad!" he declared.

I looked at DH, who was preparing to leave and asked how old the sippy cup was. He informed me that it wasn't too old and it may need ice in it. So, DH filled said sippy cup with ice and handed it back to the wutz. DH then left the house.

A moment later the wutz took a more tentative sip of his juice. Again he raised the cup with a wiggle of his hand, "Apple juice bad, Mommy!"

Declaring defeat, I grabbed the sippy cup from his demanding little grasp and dumped the juice into the sink. I rinsed out the sippy cup then reached into the fridge to pour him a cup of fresh juice and offer it back to him.

He took the cup from me once more. Then he took yet another sip from it. For the third time, "Apple juice bad, Mommy!"

By then I was confused. This kid loves his juice. I yanked open the fridge and snatched up the bottle of apple juice. Only to find it wasn't apple juice. It was white grape juice, which looks exactly like apple juice.

I turned to the wutz and said, "Baby, that's not Apple Juice. That's Grape Juice."

His reply: "Ooooh. Okay. Grape juice." As he wandered into the playroom, happily sipping on his bad apple juice, but good grape juice.

*sigh*

Sera

I finally downloaded the pix from my digital camera. I found this that I'd taken of my mare, Sera, a few hours before I had her put to sleep. You can see how huge her knee is from the arthritis. Even with that, she is a gorgeous horse to me.

I miss her.

A very gorgeous Mermaid Mom, Stephanie, gave me this awesome award. And I do love me some awards! Here's what you do:

The rules:

* When you receive the Blog Love Award, you should place the logo on your blog proudly!

* Link to the blogger that awarded you the love.

* Nominate your friends and bloggers you read regularly, as many as you like.

* Finally, let them know you’ve nominated them to receive the award.

And since I could nominate pretty much every blog I read, I am going to limit myself to four:

A Journey Through Loss

Love U More Than Anything...

Slightly Cosmpolitan but Profoundly Ordinary

Confessions of a (not so) Greek Wife

It Bag!

Friday, February 20, 2009 Posted In Edit This 4 Comments »

I was Bag Tagged by Lisa, the ever-so-cool One-Hip-Mom.

The RULES are as follows:

A. Post a picture of whatever bag you are using today - not last weekend when you and your hubby went out to that fabulous restaurant. No cheating!!! AND it's contents!! EVERYTHING! Yes, even THAT!

B. Tell us how much it cost. This is a no-judgment zone -- there will be no ridiculing or eye rolling here. And, if there is a story to go along with how you obtained it, I'd love to hear it.

C. Now tag some fellow bloggers and link back to this post so people know why you are posting pictures of your bag.

A. It isn't a bag, but this is what I use to carry everything around in. I know some of you are dying right about now upon seeing proof of my minimalism, but I like to keep it simple. It fits perfectly into my back pocket. The ONLY time I carry a bag is when I'm smuggling candy into the movie theater. Yes, I am that cheap.

Here are the contents:

1. A stack of credit cards.
2. Debit Card
3. HSA Card
4. Now-defunct insurance card
5. Library Card
6. Gas receipt
7. Three dollars
8. Drivers License
9. Already-spent rebate card

B. My non-bag cost me a whopping $10. I bought it at a funky local store called Fireballs. It is an eclectic little store on main street that gives away the candy fireballs with each purchase. Yum!

C. I'm tagging every female that reads this blog that has yet to do this MeMe!

I'm in love...

As someone with a Sensory Integration Disorder, I am highly sensitive to scented products and perfumes. However, I just have to rave about a gift I received for Christmas.

It is made by a company called Paisley & Company in Kutztown, PA. The product I received was the bathwash and the scent is called Good Karma. It has is an Eastern scent that is so rich and wonderful. It smells just like my favorite store in Apalachicola, Florida called RiverLily.

The website's description of Good Karma is: "Good Karma: Sweet essence of Neroli, Lemongrass, and Nag Champa - redolent of the East. This scent can be addictive!"

Mmmmmm. Bliss.

Siggy!

Wednesday, February 18, 2009 Posted In Edit This 3 Comments »

I now have a cool new siggy thanks to the One-Hip-Mom, Lisa!

Actually, she made me three to choose from and I like them all so much I plan on switching them out from time to time.

Thanks a million, Lisa!

If you like it and want one, go pester her with a pretty-please and I bet she'll make you one, too!

Finally Unpacked....

I just spent an hour moving 40+ posts from my old WordPress blog, to this site. What a pain in the ass, but it is done now. I'd been putting it off for months and months.

I didn't see a reason to keep paying for a website that I wasn't using and now that DH has finally decided on a business name, we'll be designing a site for him. I refuse to pay for more than I have to, so I canceled my TMP site after I shuffled all the blog posts over to blogger.

So the next project is to buy DH's domain and build a website. *sigh*

Happy Freaking Monday

I had to take the wutz to the walk in clinic this morning. He spiked a fever and told me his 'ear was broke' so I felt it was wisest to take him in. I didn't take him to the pediatric center because they wouldn't do anything for him anyways. The clinic doctor put him on an antibiotic, so I hope he'll start feeling better soon. He still has a fever, though. *sigh*

And I have a migraine.

Oh, and people are asses.

Addicted...

Sunday, February 15, 2009 Posted In , , , , Edit This 1 Comment »

I know I've written about having writer's block and that is still in effect, though I wish it weren't. I really don't have a whole lot of upbeat, world-rocking news to share these days, so I think that's affecting my writing.

However, I am still utterly addicted to tricking out my blog. I love ramping it up for the holidays and for whatever mood I happen to be in. As you can see, I've tweaked it a bit this morning. I enjoy doing it and I hope you, dear reader, like the changes.

I hope you all had a fabulous Valentine's Day. Mine was busier than I'd have liked, but I think the wutz enjoyed it. Thanks to his Granny and PopPop, he has enough sugar to fuel him for a least the next three decades. *sigh*

I have to attend a funeral today. I'm pretty bummed about that. Two funerals in about as many weeks is way too many for me. A former coworker passed away suddenly a few days ago. She was only 56. Fortunately, it was an instant thing and she did not suffer. It's still very sad, though. I'll go, but I do hate funerals. I'd much rather stay home today, as incredibly selfish as that is.

For a bit of cautiously hopefuly and good news, DH has a lead that might offer him some work for at least a month. Hopefully it will produce a longer contract where he can get his own contracting business off the ground. It would be excellent. I am praying this will be exactly what he's been wanting for a long long time. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers!

Happy Valentine's Day!

The Letter H

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The awesome One-Hip-Mom, Lisa had this challenge over at her place and I would love to say I decided to try it, but the truth is, I wasn't given a choice!

If you want to join in, leave a comment and I'll send you a letter on your blog or in your email. Your job is then to come up with 10 thing about yourself that begin with the letter I give you. Fun!

10 Things About Me, H style:

1. Horses: I have 10 of these. Three miniature horses (Boss, Uucy, Primo), and seven big horses (Howie, Puddles, Meli, Crybaby, Ment, Lil E, and Ego).

2. Husband: Even though he's currently unemployed, I still lurve him. He's even been helping around the house. And he adores the wutz and is the best Daddy ever. What's not to love?

3. House: It looks like a tornado hit it, but I love it.

4. Homeless: That's what we'll be if DH doesn't get a job soon. Heh.

5. Hamburger: Today's lunch. It had cheese on it, but it is still a hamburger! It was goood too.

6. Hands: Mine are so dry this winter. I'm not sure why. It sucks.

7. Headaches: I get too many of them. Migraines, too. I wish I didn't because they are miserable.

8. Health insurance: We currently have none. Because of DH being laid off. (I'm sure I haven't mentioned that, have I? LOL.)

9. Healthy: After having a skin biopsy, a Pap, and blood test, the Doctor said I'm healthy and I'll live till I die.

10. Heart: Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and I heart Vday candy!

Too tired

As a former Foxhunter, I've seen many a fox go to ground. But I can honestly say I've never seen one do it quite like this...

Half Baked

Sunday, February 08, 2009 Posted In Edit This 3 Comments »

I know I've touched on it briefly, but I love to bake. I cannot cook worth a bloody damn but when it comes to baking, I am all over it. I have a few recipes posted on my blog and someday I'll get around to posting more.

My latest creation was sprinkles cookies, as the wutz calls them. They turned out very well, if I do say so myself. And I don't even LIKE sugar cookies. I was able to tweak the recipe I found and make it mine. When I get a chance I'll post it!

But today, via Cake Wrecks, I stumbled across a baking blog that is really great. It's called Bakerella. It'll definitely be going into my blogroll.

Check it out.

He's Just Not That Into You

DH and I went to see this movie today. We missed the first couple of minutes because we are perpetually late, but it was easy enough to follow, so no damage done. It was a cute movie. I really enjoyed it. I thought it was funny and very true!

It made for a pretty good date movie. While it is definitely a chick flick, it has enough testosterone (and hot chicks) in it to make it tolerable for the guys.

WTF Blankie!

Blocked

Thursday, February 05, 2009 Posted In , Edit This 1 Comment »

I am enjoying the challenge of this Project 365 Blog, and I am about halfway finished with the project. But I must admit that lately I've been suffering from writer's block. Which is why, dear reader, you've been subjected to boring blurbs and yawn-worthy youtubes. Sorry.

I hope to resume my usual yammering soon. Until I do, please bear with me. I'd appreciate it.

Muck Boots

I can tell you, I look h-o-t tromping out to the barn in these muck boots. I lurve them!

I admit, I do love odd things and these boots definitely fit that bill!

Holding Pattern

We are entering week two of DH being jobless. He's sent out about 11 or 12 resumes and has had no real bites. It is disheartening. There is one local company that is looking for someone, so he sent in a resume this morning. I have my fingers crossed that something good comes of it. My biggest fear with it is that the pay will be a LOT less than what he was getting previously. However, we'll do what we have to do. Anything will beat the whopping $275 per week for unemployment, right?!?

Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers that DH finds something soon. I'm tired of having him underfoot all the time!

What I'm Reading

Sunday, February 01, 2009 Posted In Edit This 1 Comment »

This week I have been reading Maria V. Snyder's Poison Study and Magic Study. I enjoyed both novels. They were easy reads, each one took me a day to read it. I find myself enjoying the Fantasy genre now more than I have previously. It makes for a nice escape and these two novels definitely provided that.

I had quite a difficult time finding the third novel in the trilogy, but finally I located Fire Study and it is as delightful as the first two novels thus far.

I recommend all three.
