After having the wutz, the official plan was to time our next peanut so that the wutz would be three years old upon our second child's birth. Since the wutz will be three in April, it is obvious that our plan was just that. Nothing more. And I'm not complaining. The wutz is a handful. He's got more energy than three normal kids. If you think I'm just saying that since I'm his mother, come over, I'll let you babysit.

But I digress.

Since the plan didn't quite go as well, planned, we are tossing around the possibility of trying for a second in the coming year. I'm not entirely certain I'm ready. However, since I'm always prepared for anything, I thought I'd go ahead and make a Gyn appointment for the first of the year. There was one small problem with that plan, though. My doctor has a waiting list to get on the list to even make an appointment. I got on that list a month ago and I've yet to hear back from anyone. So, I don't even have an appointment! How crazy is that?

Since I really do not like to wait for anything, I am seriously considering shopping around for a new OB/GYN. My options are slim in this one horse town, though. The other office happens to be a former client of mine. I'm not sure I want to see a man I'm that familiar with. I may break down and do it though.

Anyways, back to the babies thing...
...I know I want to have a second child, but I don't know if I'm ready yet. I'm not getting any younger though. What if I lose my mind and decide I want a third? I'll be considered AMA by then and my mother was 40 when she had me, I'm well aware of how stressful the age gap can be.

Ugh. I just don't know. Do you ever really know, though? I think that's the hardest part for me. I guess I'm not quite ready to take that leap. Soon, perhaps.

Thomas the Tank Engine

Saturday, October 25, 2008 Edit This 3 Comments »

Today we drove 100 miles to see Thomas the Train. The wutz loved it, of course. The train ride was a whopping twenty-five minutes long. I hate trains, but I grinned and beared it for the wutz. He really did have a blast. Oh, and Granny and PopPop went with us, so he came home with a bag full of toys from the gift shop. It was like Christmas for him!

I'll post pix later, but I'm too fecking tired to do it tonight!

Job Situation

Friday, October 24, 2008 Edit This 3 Comments »

It looks like our departments have been saved. I am very relieved about this. The solution they came up with was a two day furlough for employees. We can all live with that.

My main concern now is that next time we won't see it coming. This time they gave us a warning and we let the dogs loose on them and they were bombarded by our supporters. The powers-that-be did NOT like that at all. They would rather us be quietly sent away into the night. So I'm afraid next time it'll be a stealth mission to be rid of our program.

But for now, all is right with the world.

PRK Update!

Thursday, October 23, 2008 Posted In Edit This 1 Comment »

My PRK check up went very well today. Aside from the fact that I lost track of time and completely forgot about the appointment. I looked at the clock at work and realized I was fifteen minutes late already! Fortunately, I made it to the appointment and they were still willing to see me. Whew!

The appointment did not take long and I was pronounced with 20/20 vision! Hot damn. That's amazing considering I started this journey with 20/200 in my left eye and 20/400 in my right eye. What a massive difference!!!!

I am very pleased. This has been a long journey, but I'd do it over again in a New York minute.

Wedding: Take Two

Sunday, October 19, 2008 Edit This 4 Comments »

Updated from yesterday:

I went to the wedding and it was lovely. It was held at a nearby lake and the bride and groom were married underneath a lovely arbor ornamented with various fall flowers. The bride wore a lovely white dress that made her look like a Greek goddess. The groom looked like he stepped out of a Hank Williams Jr. video. Interesting combination, but the wedding was very lovely.

The two songs included in the wedding were surprise! Country. Randy Travis' Forever and Ever, Amen and Rascal Flatts' Bless the Broken Road. While I love Randy Travis, if I never heard another Rascal Flatts' song, it'd be way too soon.

I did not stay for cake, though. The weather was a bit chilly and very windy. My choice of dresses just didn't hold up well for those conditions. I was afraid my dress was going to fly up at any given moment and expose more of me than anyone would ever wish to see.

After the wedding, I did manage to get a couple of fun pix taken of me dressed up, though!

Wedding bells...

A friend of mine is getting married today. Since the wutz wasn't invited, and I have no babysitter, I'll be going to the wedding solo while DH keeps the wutz at home. I've never gone to a wedding alone! I'm sort of dreading that.

I may not stay for the reception. But then again, the sight of wedding cake may totally win me over. Wedding cake always looks delicious! It's so beautiful. But you never quite know what you are going to get with it once it is cut. Sometimes there are all these wacky flavors. Or the cake is gorgeous but sooo dry on the inside. Other times it is sheer perfection and it is absolutely the best thign you've ever tasted. I wonder what it'll be today?

I'll report back!

It Just Won't Stop!

I briefly blogged about the budget cuts our department is facing. Those proposals go to committee sometime Monday. So please keep us in your thoughts! I'm nervous that they are going to either cut the entire program or make large nonsensical cuts in it. I hate that I this has to drag out for so long, and we have no clue when we will find out for sure.

It's sickening.

To make matters worse, the other state agreement that I work with (my last thread of hope in actually keeping my job) also announced that they are going to cut their program entirely.

~sigh~

If things don't work out, I guess I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed for a healthy severance package. But I do hope that the bigger of the two programs manages to get saved!

The Great Debates

Thursday, October 16, 2008 Posted In Edit This 1 Comment »

Classy, eh?

I'm glad the debates are over. My mind has been made up for awhile and none of the debates have changed it for me. If anything, it has solidified my opinion that McCain is a hateful, warmongering asshole, who plans to screw me on health insurance and send my son to war someday.

Halloween

Tuesday, October 14, 2008 Posted In Edit This 0 Comments »

Is it terrible that I think we may completely skip Halloween this year? The wutz still doesn't get the concept and I'm not sure if I want to even be bothered with the whole Trick or Treat thing. Also, I have no idea what I would want him to dress up as. He doesn't care enough to choose a costume himself either.

Therefore, I think Halloween can wait until next year.

Will Power

Monday, October 13, 2008 Posted In Edit This 1 Comment »

It ranks right up there with patience. Of which I have none.

I did very well for a couple of years. My consumption of junk food was a bare minimum at best. Then I got pregnant. That sweet tooth of mine came back with a vengence. And though the wutz is 2 1/2, that sweet tooth still remains.

I have no will power to stop myself, either. My relationship with the bathroom scale remained at an uneasy friendship until I stopped breastfeeding. Now I've nothing but love for chocolate and loathing for the scale.

Yeah, I can still fit into my prepregnancy jeans, but nothing is the same. And I know I know if I could suck it up and rid my life of the constant influx of sugar consumption, I'd be able to do much much better.

But I can't! Those cookies... those cakes... those brownies... they sing to me and it is the sweetest (pun intended) sound I've ever heard. Dammit.

And yes, this post was typed with the taste of homemade chocolate chip cookie still on my tongue. ~sigh~

Happiest Place on Earth?

Saturday, October 11, 2008 Posted In Edit This 2 Comments »

Earlier this week, I went online to Disney World's website to make Resort reservations and also order our Four Day Park Hopper passes. It was not the most pleasant experience I've ever had. I think my yearly Pap is more pleasant, actually. And that's saying a lot.

First of all, one would expect Disney's website to be DisneyWorld.com, and while they apparently own this website, to make reservations you get shuffled to this website: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/index?bhcp=1 What the hell is that?

The pages were very slow to load, and then when I attempted to make the specific reservations, the rooms I wanted would not select. I must have tried ten times. Finally, as I was folding my cards, I got it to work. How? I have no idea.

I made our reservations after approx. an hour and a half.

But there's more! I had to also make reservations for rooms at the same resort for my parents and my sister and her DH. However, their super-high-tech website apparently will not let a person make reservations for more than one room at a time.

Since I did not have another three hours to expend on the task, I spent another ten minutes hunting down the number to call to place reservations over the phone.

Now, I know Disney has to be a multibillion dollar company. So please tell me why on earth is their number not a toll free number?!? Seriously.

I spent another hour and a half on the phone with a saccharine sweet woman that aided me in making the reservations for the two additional hotel rooms. By the time it was over I was $2000 lighter, and I needed a valium and a long rest in a cool, dark room.

I certainly hope the actual vacation is a lot happier than the reservation making process!

7 Interesting Things about Me!

Thursday, October 09, 2008 Posted In Edit This 1 Comment »

Umm... Thanks for the tag Lisa.

One
I do the majority of my reading in the shower. I used to even study for tests in the shower. And no, I never get the pages wet. It's an art.

Two
I am Sensory Defensive, but I am known as a self-treater. Which basically no one realizes I have issues aside from the fact that I'm quirky and a bit of a picky eater.

Three
I have absolutely zero patience. My motto is: I have no time for patience.

Four
I learned to ride horses by working on a small ranch that trained wild Mustangs. I started training them myself when I was in junior high.

Five
I hooked up with my now-DH while out 'possum kicking with friends on a very cold November night. Very interesting story. Maybe I'll tell it sometime.

Six
I am a clutterbug. I just can never seem to get organized. With anything. I try and try but it seems like the moment I turn my back, chaos once more reigns supreme around me. I hate it.

Seven
I hate sharing a lot about myself without being asked specific questions. So this tag has been hard for me!

Alright, I survived that! I'm not going to tag five people, but instead here are the lovely ladies that are tagged...

Nearly Forgotten

Wednesday, October 08, 2008 Edit This 1 Comment »

I spent the evening reading the book Sundays at Tiffanys by James Patterson. It was a very good, quick read. However, I got so lost in the pages that I nearly forgot my poor, forlorn blog!

I'll do better tomorrow.

Fall Sampler

We spent yesterday afternoon at a local plantation at their annual Fall Sampler. It is mainly for the kids, with pony rides, Thomas the Train wagon rides, a petting zoo, and all the typical carnival food one could desire. It was a lot of fun, aside from the wutz suffering from a horrid cold. He took it all in stride, which means he pretty much forgot about his illness by the fifth ride on Thomas the Train!

Tricked Out

Saturday, October 04, 2008 Posted In Edit This 0 Comments »

I decided it was time for a little change!

So, I just spent an hour tricking out my blog a bit. I am sure I'll change things around again as I'm unused to the two column template and it does annoy me a little. However, I am loving the Halloween background. So, it may stay. I'm also not sure I like having a plain header, but I'll have to see what I can do with it later.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Finally Friday

Friday, October 03, 2008 Edit This 1 Comment »

I'm glad to see this week go. It's been less than fun.

As I mentioned in my last blog post, there's the possibility that I may lose my job. There's some political crap going on that they are shrouding behind the excuse of budget cuts and I find it sickening. It isn't personal and it isn't about me. There are several others in my division that will suffer if the powers-that-be choose to continue with their plan to cut our program.

Hopefully between us all, we'll be able to muster up enough opposing political firepower that we can salvage our jobs.

But the whole thing just sucks.

Oh, and the wutz is sick. He has the cold that I had last week (and the week before). I know, firsthand, that it wasn't any fun. I feel bad for him. He looks so forlorn, like a little sick puppy. ~sigh~

Gee thanks. I feel so much more secure now, W.
