Too Much Loss
Wednesday, April 29, 2009 Posted In Kids , Prayer Edit This 2 Comments »My heart is broken. Again.
A friend, Kelli, lost her 8 month old little girl yesterday afternoon. It is such a tragedy and I have absolutely no words to express it.
I can't even wrap my brain around how much loss we've all felt lately. This simply pushes it way over the top.
My prayers are with them in this terrible, heartwrenching time.

Sorry.

Monday, April 27, 2009 Posted In All about me , Kids , Shopping , Vacation Edit This 4 Comments »We enjoyed a rather relaxing day here in the great state of Conneticut. We slept in (by in, I mean 7am) and then we got up, had some breakfast and hung out while the wutz went to be the object of my niece's show and tell for the day. Once they returned, we did lunch at a mediocre restaurant.
Afterward we drive to Westport to do a little shopping. I bought the wutz some clothes from a cute little store there. I can't wait to put him in the little monkey shirt and shorts. He'll be a-dorable.
I also found a great pair of sunglasses at Coach, but I didn't cave and buy them. I may go back later, though.
And I found two charms from Tiffany & Co. that are calling my name. I can't decide which I like better, though.
Here they are:
Naughty and Nice charm
Crown Key Pendant
The Wiz

He did a fabulous job. I got to see a side of him that I had never seen before. I am very proud of him. I had no clue he had such a lovely voice, too! Wow!
Afterward was a Q&A with William F. Brown, the playwright of The Wiz. It was interesting!
Here are some terrible pics snapped from my phone:

This is so true. I am always looking for something I've put down and then cannot find. And if I'm not looking for something I've lost, I'm looking for something DH has misplaced. Typically I tell him exactly where it is with instructions that include coordinates of the location and I still have to get up and find said item.
I've been the Seeker in my house for eleven years, you'd think I'd be adjusted to it now. However, the job has gotten even more detailed. Now I have to seek out whatever item the wutz seems to have misplaced. It is always some tiny little toy that has dropped off the face of the earth or gone for a stroll in the hinterlands. And I, as the Seeker, am expected to find it. Immediately.
*sigh*
And I do. Usually.
The chopping block...
Wednesday, April 22, 2009 Posted In All about me , because I rock Edit This 7 Comments »I got my hair cut again yesterday. It is a *little* shorter than I had anticipated, but I think I like it. I'm still adjusting to it, though. DH, however, is in love with it, which came as a total shock and surprise to me. I was convinced he'd hate it. But I'm grateful he likes it and I chose to ignore the comment, "Wow, it looks like I'll have a new woman in my bed."
In Honor of loved ones lost...
Saturday, April 18, 2009 Posted In Blog , Kids , Sorrow Edit This 3 Comments »
I feel like those of us connected by the thin but often iron-strong web of online have been beaten down hard and fast in the past couple of weeks. Therefore, on this day, I want to honor all of those loved ones that have recently risen to reach heaven.
To the Tunell family, the Sphor family, the Myers family, and also to April's mom, who learned she may not even get the opportunity to meet her child in this world. To all of these people, my words fail and my heart breaks. My prayers are all I have to offer and you have those.
Why men don't need to stay home and why my son looks like Baby Clean, but I can't explain why I haven't killed someone yet, because I probably should.
Friday, April 17, 2009 Posted In Bitchfest , Humor , Kids Edit This 4 Comments »As I've previously posted, DH was laid off in January. As a whole, I haven't minded having him home because he does manage to stay busy and out of my hair, which is how we both prefer it. However, he has been home this week and has begun pacing like a caged tiger. It drives me batshit because I am quite capable of making the most of alone time. Of which, I have had none this week. I need T-time to stay sane. Needless to say, I'm feeling rather insane at the moment.
And yes, I do blame him. Mostly. And mother nature, but I digress.
Anyways, I worked today while he was home with the wutz. After work I ran errands which included grocery shopping. As I shopped, my phone rang numerous times. Surprise, it was DH each and every time to make additions to my ten-mile long grocery list. Said additions forced me to criss-cross across the grocery store a half a dozen times at minimum. But I preservered and completely the grocery shopping.
Only to come home to an empty house. And a carload of groceries.
Where the f*ck were they?!? you ask. They were down at the pond skipping rocks. Ahhhhh, to have such a relaxing life.
Finally, the boys arrived and DH helped me unload the remaining two bags of groceries. Then he informed me he had decided to try his hand at cutting the wutz's hair.
Yes. Really.
I know, I know. I'm well aware that I could stop writing this blog here and now and every single one of you would know exactly what happened next. It is that f*cking obvious.
So yes, DH used the wrong sized blade guard and now my child looks like Mr. Clean's offspring.
And yes, we are leaving next week for a week long vacation to visit my brother and his family.
But no, I didn't kill DH. I wanted to, though. I really did. My arms were outstretched and my tensed fingers were poised to coil around his neck, but I gathered myself, breathed deeply, then went into the bedroom and shut the door and pretended I was single. If but for a minute.

Wednesday, April 15, 2009 Posted In Bitchfest Edit This 2 Comments »I have birthday pictures to post, but first I have to download them off the XTi. I also have plenty to blog about, but my head is so foggy and all I want is a long hibernation period. Sorry.
The wutz had to go to the doctor today. He's had hives for three days and this morning when he woke up they were fire red and ALL over him. No clue what he has had a reaction to, but we are giving him Zyrtec and Benadryl as per the Ped's instructions.
Hopefully it will solve the problem.
More tomorrow.

I made Pioneer Woman's Macaroni and Cheese recipe last night for dinner. DH and I loved it. Loved it. I definitely recommend it.
However, the wutz didn't like it. Apparently, it just doesn't rank up there with the Scooby Doo mac-n-powdercheese. Typical.
Happy Birthday Mr. C!

Thursday, April 09, 2009 Posted In Bitchfest , Blog , Prayer , Twitter Edit This 0 Comments »The internet and Twitter has been lit up the past few days over a little girl named Maddie. Unfortunately, she passed away and my heart goes out to her and her family. I can't even imagine and there are no words to convey how tragic I feel it is. They are all in my prayers.
There is a remembrance page set up for Maddie, please take a moment to say a prayer for this family and if you can, give to the March of Dimes in her honor.
Honestly, there's not much I can say that Major Bedhead hasn't already said, so please pop over there and read her blog as well.
Lastly, as is noted on Major Bedhead's blog, Maddie's family had a website set up on BlueHost and because of high traffic volume due to the nature of her passing and it being shared all across the web, they decided to shut down the Sphor's website. Permanently. Assholes.
Please boycott BlueHost if you feel so inclined. I know I'll never give them my business. Ever.
Names, again...
Wednesday, April 08, 2009 Posted In All work and no play Edit This 3 Comments »A few name suggestions have been really cute!
A few that are on my list:
Itsa Farm (still a fave, probably because it was the first I thought of)
Hidden Hill Farm
Backside Barn (cute!)
Muck You Farms
Imperfect Farms (We might be imperfect, but our horses aren't!)
Still thinking...
What's in a name?
Tuesday, April 07, 2009 Posted In All work and no play Edit This 3 Comments »
I have decided that I want to rename our farm. Though I'd previously named the farm something I really like, I've found several other farms that are using that very same name. Personally, I prefer to remain original, so I am back to the drawing board. Especially since I feel it is time to start marketing the farm more than I have been in recent years.
I'm really not sure what I want to call the place, I want it to be something that suits us. Preferably something witty or charming. I'm not big into the fancy, super-elegant names because they just don't fit.
There is a famous ranch whose name I love called Almosta Ranch. And there is another place about an hour from here called Lake Say-Hi! which I think is just too cool, too. So those are the sorts of things that catch my eye. I also need something that I can have a nice company phrase or slogan with as well.
Anyways, I'm open to suggestions. I know it is really hard to think of things for others, but if something leaps into your head, please feel free to send it in!
Out of the ash I rise with my red hair And eat men like air.
Monday, April 06, 2009 Posted In All about me , because I rock Edit This 11 Comments »Sylvia Plath did have a way with words.
This weekend, I dyed my hair red. Or as Mark Twain would say...
“When red-haired people are above a certain social grade their hair is auburn.”
Actually, it is medium auburn, or so the box declared that I purchased.
I think I like it. I have been red before, back in my days of late nights, clubs, and excessive enjoyable amounts of alcohol.
Anyways, I'll save the rambling for another post. I am still trying to get over this shipping fever I've caught and I'm not really up to waxing poetic on the virtues of Clairol.
Then a pic from last night:
And a couple of crummy pics from today while I was out feeding horses. I had to take them myself and they suck, but a few nagging readers aren't patient enough to wait and I do aim to please. Sometimes.
Silent Sunday: Spring has Spung
Sunday, April 05, 2009 Posted In Silent Sunday Edit This 5 Comments »PSA to my fellow bloggers...
Saturday, April 04, 2009 Posted In Blog Edit This 1 Comment »
I read a lot of blogs. A lot. And when I do read them, I always like to leave a message so that my fellow bloggers know I have been visting their blog. I think this is only appropriate since I love when someone comments on my blog. I even have a little victory cheer I do, complete with a mortifying dance.
Okay, there really is no dance. But if there was, it'd be mortifying. I promise.
Anyways, I love all the blogs I read. And if you have a blog and I don't have it blogged rolled, leave me a comment and I'll make sure it gets added to my reading list! I am sure I can squeeze in one or two more blogs. It would just mean that my child would not receive dinner or something. No biggie.
My biggest issue with my blog list at the moment is that for some reason there is a glitch in some of the blog styles that makes me unable to leave a comment. I am not sure why, but I click the post comment button and click it and click it and *click* *click* *click* *click click CLICK* again and again and nada. Nothing.
Therefore, if your blog is on my nifty little blogroll and you HAVEN'T gotten a comment from me... now you know why.
Now scurry off and fix it already!

Cheating

April Fools!
Wednesday, April 01, 2009 Posted In Holidays , Humor Edit This 11 Comments »I hate April 1st. I hate the pranks, the calls from my mother trying to fool me, etc. I always call my sister to remind her that the day is April 1st, so she'll have a head's up that my mother will inevitably be calling to prank her.
However, this year I decided to get in on the action! I have a coworker that is a perpetual prankster. He's gotten me more times than I can count, so I wanted a little payback.
I took a screenshot of his desktop, complete with the Georgia Bulldog logo background and all the icons. I then set it as his desktop background and turned off the icons.
When he came to work this morning and logged into his computer then double clicked on his email icon it failed to work. So did his internet icon. And his solitaire icon. He promptly rebooted.
Upon logging in again, he found that the icons still didn't work. That's when he called in my service to fix his computer. While he answered the phones for me, I 'fixed' his computer and told him I didn't know what the problem was, it was working fine for me.
However, every time he gets up and moves away from his desk, I again turn the icons off.
Needless to say, he's ready to toss his desktop computer out the window.
I think I may tell him the truth sometime next week.
